After the success of our opening night, we had a look at a few things and decided that we needed to look at some safeguarding for our amazing volunteer librarians, and our patrons. So, we took a couple of weeks to ensure that all our ducks were perfectly aligned, our eggs were not all in one basket and that we had everything up together. We are confident that we have achieved that and we can happily announce that our doors are open!

Ash and I will be on site until 1800 today, and we’ll be back again at 1500 on Thursday to, once again, throw the doors open wide (but not too wide, as it’s still a bit chilly). Please come down and see us, even if it’s just out of curiosity. Our little collection is growing, and it’s such a shame seeing it all unread.

Hot and cold drinks, free wifi and a good book, hidden away from the rest of Portland. What’s not to love?

We are finally open! Last night, Weds 26th, we opened the door to our Little Tiny Library with some very moving poetry, mural painting, chilli and chat. We’re grateful to everyone who attended, and so uplifted by the feedback.

With just a few short hours to go before we open our doors, we’re all here taking care of the last few bits and pieces.

Just 2 sleeps until the grand opening! Ash has a chair to sit on, while they check your books in an out, the leaflets are in the leaflet stand, the charity adds are up, the wall is mural ready and, most importantly, the sofa is installed.

We’re really proud of how much we have achieved over the last week. All it needs is a few tweaks, and we’ll be ready to invite you all in.

Cat’s beautiful blue is just the start. It’s the foundation for the mural that our guest artist, and all round awesome person, Maddy will be creating on our opening night. Maddy will not be alone in this endeavour. All our guests will be invited to submit drawing and they will upscale it and incorporate it into the final design!

If you want to be involved in the creation of our “Sacred Harbour”, then come and join us on Wednesday at 1800!

Our little library is coming together. Ash has been moving furniture and cataloguing books. We’ve been planning paint jobs and securing seating. Everything is on track for Feb 26th.

We have 60 titles available at the moment. It’s a wee collection, but every journey starts with small steps. We are open to donations! Let us know if you’re having a clear out.

Come and join us for an enchanting evening as we celebrate the launch of our Little LGBTQIA+ Library—a heartfelt celebration of love, community, and creative expression!

The event kicks off with a queer seaweed mural making session by the talented Maddy. Dive into the magical world of art as you create your masterpiece alongside fellow creatives.

We will also be blessed with poetic performances by the fabulous Naomi and Robyn’s partner. Their enchanting words will fill the evening with inspiration and magic.

But that’s not all! Ash, Amanda, and Nat will guide us through the library, explaining how you can borrow, contribute, and request books. Embrace the spirit of sharing and community by becoming a part of this incredible initiative.

As always, delicious hot food and refreshing cold drinks will be available. Come with an appetite for good food and great conversations.

Something wonderful is coming to Fortuneswell—a tiny but mighty LGBTQIA+ library! Nestled in the basement of B-Side, this discreet library will offer a curated selection of LGBTQIA+ books for all ages. While the collection may start small, our ambition is sky-high.

Mark your calendars for the grand opening on the evening of February 26th! We’re kicking things off with a creative twist: attendees are invited to help paint a mural in the reading space. Plus, we’ll be serving up cold drinks and hot food to keep the good vibes flowing.

We’re excited to grow this community hub, but we need your help. We’re accepting book donations to expand our collection. If you have any books you’d like to lend or donate, please let us know or simply bring them along.

We are pleased to announce the imminent opening of The B-Side LGBTQ+ Library. We are very small, at the moment, but have a broad range of LGBTQ+ literature, from autobiographies to medical guides. We also have a small reading area, and tea and coffee on demand!
